D. R. Barton Chisel Slick Vintage Gouge Wood Ice Harvesting Antique Nice!
We have here a nice old slick with a long handle.
Makers mark is somewhat weak, however, it can't be disputed.
D. R. Barton CO
Rochester. N.Y.
This slick more than likely comes from the time period of 1874-1880.
Historical reference: The Davistown Museum
This slick could have been used to shave either wood or ice.
It is extremely solid.
The handle spins on the shaft for hand comfort.
A real serious worker!
Overall length: 27"
Blade 3 1/2"
A nice one of a kind slick for the collector.
(plenty of pictures)
Be sure to check my other auctions for additional tools and neat stuff.....

I'll guess that it was intended for ice work.
For log home building, the slicks are somewhat longer so you can push with your shoulder.
