Instant collection ... not at that price. Actually there's better there than I first thought, but still.

I think he first listed those saws at around US$900. Just too much waste.
Generally this seller's auctions are around 30% to 40% too high. As a result the listing hangs around for a long time.
Regarding the "shades of grey," had to wait a long time for the flick. Then Ian set it up for me .
How about this one for a sequel:

What do you think of these?
This one is Ok except the the seller wants $1000, about ten times too much, for a tidy Disston No.4 from the late 1880s/early 1890s. If anything, it should be even less than $100 because of the painted handle. I would suggest $50 to $75.

This bloke seems to think that a handle damaged beyond repair is OK and again wants the same asking price ($100) of a Disston No.4 same era as the red handled saw with a handle that is damaged beyond repair .

A case of live in hope, but die in despair?
I guess it's always possible there is some rare gem amongst those wrecks that some very astute & observant reader spots & must have for their collection, whatever the price....
But I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for most people reading this section of the Forum to bite.
Cheers,IW

An Farrand Model 'C' Tape Rule. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1922-FARR...vip=true&rt=nc. I do not know how many tape rule collectors there are out there... but there were 3 serious bidders on this... so at least 4.
I have one identical to this - NIB, tag is still tied to the case. Cost $30, however I do not have the instructions. I do have a Farrand Model 'A' NIB with tag, instructions - the lot. The Model 'A' is the original model of the first tape rule ever made. Type 'C' was an 'economy' model, Type 'D' is the 'basic' model. The alpha sequence is the timeline of introduction as well as a quality sequence - ironically, the value is inverse, because model 'A' is far and away the most common. Model 'B' only sold in UK (as far as I know) and was Model 'A' without nickel plating.

I expect that this saw will sell quite well and I had seen it earlier. However, I thought that the execution of this example was a little lacking and consequently disappointing. For example, if it wasn't stated or if I was not aware of the eagle saws, I would not recognise what it was intended to be.
Compare it to this panther saw, also for sale:

I accept that it is easy to be critical when you are not a prospective buyer .

That's what it's for? Live and learn. I think I'll pass, guttering means ladders and me and ladders don't mix well these days.
I've steered clear of the blow torch type of thing in my 'accumulation' because I tend to use what I collect. Last thing I want around here is a fire, I mean, we've had everything else. Hmm, can you still get a seal kit for them?We don't know how lucky we are......
