    Man they are expensive.

Are they worth it? That's a private decision we each have to make each time we plan that new tool.

Whatever, they look fabbo, work great too.

The LV stuff is nice too. Although, I prefer the more tradition look of the LN tools. Wonder if they will ever build a Spiers type smoother. There must be a market given the prices I've seem people fork out for some pretty beaten up planes on fleaBay.

    Cheers

Some say Duc's (especially the 999) are expensive....but people who have ridden and own them would just smile. In other words each to there own....and if we all bought things for nothing more than function...wouldn't we be even more boring than we are at present...lol Thank someone we are all different.

    and here:

There are a couple of others, like Holtey Planes, but you really WOULD need to review your insurance policy if you had a couple of those!!!

    No. That's merely good fortune.

Has anyone else noticed that used LN tools sell on ebay for about $30-$40 less than their new price?

    PS Just kidding WB

PPS Although I've got various bits of machinery and some reasonable hend-held power tools in my shed, I hadn't bothered locking it. Until recently!

Since I've added a number of Lie Nielsen saws and planes, plus some Lee Valley planes, and other nice goodies, I now religiously lock the shed.

Probably wouldn't make much difference, but it does make me a bit more comfortable.

Any sign of the LN chisels yet?

I ordered mine (only the set of five, not the full nine) about a month ago. No word from Warren, Maine as yet. (insert "yearning" emoticon here)

    Cheers!

PS been playing with my my new LV shoulder and edge planes today. Lovely stuff! For cutting a trench, the shoulder plane is just so much easier and faster to set up than the router - so long as one is only doing a little bit! Trench bottoms look virtually polished. The half-lap tenons going into them even fit (with a small clout!)

    Ian, you bugger

Just when I'd set my mind on a couple of LN additions, up you pop with this! Cor!

Have you, (or anyone else for that matter, had any experience with these planes? Do they work as well as they look?)

I may just have to get one of these, in kit for, to satisfy my insatiable tool greed

    Cheers!

You should probably have bought them from LN Australia.
I ordered a five set on the 12/08. I received them on the 16/08.

    Thumbs up LN Australia.
