Plane Blade Length
Hi Shedhand
I think that if you have a close look you will find that your chip breaker is making contact with the mouth. This why you can only get .05 mm below the plane base.
I think that your plane has had the frog adjusted to close up the mouth to reduce tearout.
As Ozwinner said
20mm.....
Ive got plane blades that only have 5mm left.
Lots of life left in em yet.
Your useable blade length is when your bevel gets to the hole.

Sheddie - 80mm from the edge to the centre of the cap iron screw head when it is at its lowest point in the slot.
The new Stanley blade has the slot with the hole recess for the bolt head to poke through at the end nearest the edge.
Probably useless info, but...
