Paul,
thanks for your informative response.
I saw your ute saw post at the time but, read over it gain to refresh the information.
Looking a the freshly filed teeth, they appear not to be produced from a regular 60 degrees saw file.
They look like the teeth on a Disston #120 Acme no set saw.
If they are not an optical illusion, what type of file did you use?
Was it a cant saw fie? or one of those flat diamond shaped files?
Graham.

I can't speak to the Stanley boxes as to precision, because I have a Millers-Falls Langdon Acme box; but with that, on softwood, I can trim a saw-kerf's width of wood from moderately sized pieces.

Bill Houghton asked for some pix, I presume of the sloped gullets.
These are taken from the thread I linked on the docking saw, which had 4½ppi. It is easier to see the principle with the large teeth:

I will be doing some more dental work on the mitre saw so I will probably put up some more pix as I go. Work dictates are getting in the way for the moment.

Actually, Bill Houghton inadvertently hit the wrong button and didn't know how to withdraw the request; but thanks for posting nice clear pictures of a nice sharpening job.
