Rebate Plane
Gents
I have come across what I do believe to be part of a rebate plane that I have never seen before.
On one side of it has "No 077A" and on the other side it has "War Finish".
Would some one be able to enlighten me or have have a picture of one that I may be able to see what the hole plane looks like please.

Rebate Plane
Well you would not believe it I went looking in the "Show me your plane" and what did I find in Andy Mac #55 posted 15 April 07, PIC 1 bottom left hand corner is the plane that I was looking for.
So I have the body of the plane, would any body know where I would be able to acquire a blade and if I am correct, the handle from please.Last edited by DJ’s Timber; 5th January 2008 at 06:40 PM. Reason: add link to picture

Don't know about replacement blade in Australia, but you can get them from England.
See:

Might be cheaper to tour the markets or contact Hans Brunner
http://www.hansbrunnertools.gil.com.au/
or Stuart Minuskin
http://www.toolexchange.com.au/
to see if they have spare parts.
Good luck

Hi Birdie,
Yes I daresay what you have is the REcord rabbet plane. They were also made as a #077 which did not have the detachable nose section.
REgarding the marking referring to "War Finish" During the war (WW2) there were restrictions placed on the use of nickel plating and Record had to use an alternative finish until restrictions were removed by the Govermnent.
Regards
Steve

Thanks Gents

I did forget to say that there is a screw in the front of the plane and the nose does come of it.
