I called Dave at Suttons's and he says that they have not started the heat treating yet of the Stanley Plane Blades, as the furnace is not running again until the beginning of next week. Due to the easter holidays. Dave however say's that they will start and finish the heat treatment by the end of next week.

I have withdrawn $770 from the ING to pay for cap screws. Nicole however will not post them out, as the terms of the agreement was that we would pick them up. So as soon as they are paid it looks like Dj will need to pick up the cap screws after all.

Parish Engineering got the money I sent them today. This means that Dj can pick up the cap screws sometime next week.

Just cheacked the ING account and the following people have now been marked as paid:

    • Old Gunnie $270.00
    • indy70 $300.00
    • kman-oz $86.00
    • Sawdust Maker $28.00
    • David Mitchell $69.00

I have a deposit of $42.00 for the cap iron from HCU. But I do not know who HCU is?

At this point the only people who are still listed as not paid are:

    • Brendan1152
    • Jackaranda
    • silentC

What do you think of the quality of the screws DJ? They look very rough in the pictures.

I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.

I think they have done a very good job, don't forget that you are looking at a image that is about 5 to 10 times bigger than the actual object plus I haven't cleaned or wiped the filings of it, i.e., taken straight from the box.

Here is some shots taken of one next to one from my No 4 Bailey Plane to give an idea of finish. I'd say the ones we've had made are a better finish than the Stanley ones IMHO.

Even thought the grooved part of the thumbnail is bigger, it is actually better as it feels like it provides a more positive grip

I sent an email to Dave two days ago, I have not heard back from him. The blades should be done. I will call him tomorrow.

I am rather looking forward to it. I have a type 13 Stanley No. 6 sitting next to my bench ready for the new blade and cap iron. I want to get a batching type 13 No. 4 1/2" to make up my set. I am looking to polish them up to an inch of their lives and outfit them with Blackapple Totes and Knobs. They will look pretty and will come in handy as well.
