Wenzloff saws - how long?
Well I have been on the waiting list for some custom saws for quite a while from Mike and I was wondering if any other folks here have gotten any custom made saws from him and how long it has taken.

I have no idea - last heard from Mike at the end of last year. I have been waiting 2 1/2 years so far. I do have one saw, which was completed at that time. Why not just ask him?

Like Derek I waited...& waited. I must have posted a good half dozen emails to Mike that he never replied to. In the end I simply purchased direct from Lee Valley (18 months ago). Placed order on a Monday morning using the surface freight option that they say could take 6 weeks. Stuff arrived Friday morning...4 days, I couldn't believe it.
I did read a few months ago somewhere that Mike has stopped taking orders directly from the public & you can now only purchase from places like Lee Valley & other suppliers.
I purchased the little dovetail saw & it's just a joy to use. Almost makes dovetails by itself when you aren't watchingJohn'o !!

Like Johnno I ordered direct from The Best of Things and Lee Valley. Waited about 3 months as they were out of stock, worth the wait saws are the best I have ever used especially the 26 inch crosscut.

It has been more than a couple years and probably close to 3 since first enquiring....
Derek, I've been trying to ask him...Like Johnno, no reply
Johnno and Wattycoo, I know I could do what you did but I was after saws with a little more length in each catagory as I do have a longer stroke ... DOn't feel like getting a new saw and then putting a kink in it because I went that little bit far...
Anyway, I suppose I'll continue to wait and try contacting him. Waited this long...

Mike closed off orders for custom saws, because he had gotten so far behind, that he wanted to clear the backlog before taking new orders... so my advice is be patient, and keep waiting.
Last email I had from Mike, his father was very ill, and he was travelling hundreds of miles to visit him on a regular basis.
I didn't get an order in before the shut off date, I wish I was lucky enough to be in the queue, a custom Wenzloff would be really something worth waiting for....
Regards
Ray

I agree Ray. That's why I am just waiting patiently. Mike's saws are excellent and a custom one is special.
I was not aware of his father being ill. I do hope he is on the mend.

well...I'll just keep waiting...I have waited this long. With his Dad and a few other problems as well in the past I guess things can get delayed.
Thanks for the replies,
Rob
