    Default WIP Stanley Planes

Recently acquired a nice type 11 6C from Hans Brunner and a Canadian 4 1/2 on ebay. Mentioned them to mum who then remembered she had one of my grandfather's plane in the garage, did I want it?

a type 11 #5 I think, despite the tall knob - so the set grows...

Have started cleaning up the 6C and 4 1/2 (thanks Major Panic - love the 3M multifinish wheels), only picked up #5 this morning and gave it a quick clean for the photo... spent the rest of the afternoon in an electrolysis bath. No photo yet but has come up pretty good.

Have a date with the lapping plate...
I think, therefore I am... unable to get anything finished!

Where did you get your 3M multi-finish wheel? I have searched the net, but no one seems to sell them online. It seems I might have to send Dad out shopping and post one over to me.

I've picked them up from Australian Industrial Abbrasives - see details in post #6 by Nickb00 athttp://woodworkforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=78394

They're not cheap, but the results are great.

I order a 3M Scotchbrite Wheel from Australian Industrial Abrasives, and asked them to include an centre bushing to fit it onto my bench grinder. They shipped the wheel to me the next day, with two centres included, but they seem to be wrong type. They are only about 1" wide, and have parallel sides. I can't figure out how to use them to fit the wheel onto the grinder, and in any case, they seem too narrow for the wheel.

From what I've read other users put the wheels onto the threaded, tapered spindle you use for a polishing mop, so should I try and find a centre for the wheel that is designed to fit onto one of those?

    grateful for any help.

I always understood that they go on a tapered spindle for the bench grinder - not sure if they produce any other sort.
