Which one Carba-tec Site Saw v Makita MLT-100 ?
Good evening every one, yes it's which table saw to buy. At the moment I'm considering the Carba-tec Site Saw CSB-315 or the Makita MLT-100. Are there any forum members that have either one, and from a general view point which of the two saws would be the better buy ? I'm well aware this is like asking how long is a piece of string, but anyone's input would help me in purchasing the better machine of the two.
Cheers Alby

Heya Alby123
I was going to get the carbatec Site saw.. but upon my wisit to the shop.. i've quickly changed my mind and went for slightly more expensive contractor saw..the contractor's saw..
Site saw is cheap.. looks cheap and even the sales rep couldn't really reccomend it,...
the fence doesn't sit firmly locked... (it moves a bit)
The sliding part doesn't seem big enough for any half serious job.. plus the table extenders were looking a bit to weak to support proper panel weight..
Also at the time of purchase, the Carbatec contractor saw was on special .. so I've got two CMT blades with it (plus the one ripping blade that came with the saw).. additionally i've bought the wheel base making it very easily movable across the garage...
In site saw's defence I do have to admit that it is much lighter than contractor's saw.. (contractor's saw is about 160kg) so it would be much easier to move..
Haven't seen makita saw so can't comment...
I would definitely recommend the contractor saw.. (plus would recommend the purchase of digital fence measurement). once set up... gives you very accurate cuts..
Hope this was helpful

Yes it has, and just as a point of interest I have been looking through previous threads regarding the same issue as buying a new saw. Amongst the threads I came across one which mentioned the Hare & Forbes w452 SB-12, which is currently priced at $847.00 plus freight. So with your suggestions and other threads it has helped me from making a poor choice when buying a new table saw.

yeah much better choice...
basically very similar to the carbatec's contractor saw.. just bit bigger blade though... the fence is much sturdier than site saw...
just make sure you align it first.. forget what they say about them being factory aligned.. mine was almost 2 degrees off when i've unpacked it..

Just remember that the Hare and Forbes sale ends today.
You can make a preliminary order and still get it at the sale price when you are ready to buy.

Thanks for that Wolffie, it looks as though I'll be getting the H&F W452 SB-12 table saw.
I didn't know about the sale or the preliminary ordering, how does thet work.
