Waxing one's table saw...
Evening all,
I had a little chuckle when I was thinking of a title for this post and thought I should share it with you.
Seriously though folks, I've just purchased a Carba Tec table saw and unwrapped the wings and table to then spend the next 20 mins or so removing the rust inhibiting grease from all the horizontal surfaces. I have read that the table et al should be treated with wax? to stop rust from forming in the future.
Can anyone tell me what sort of wax (or similar) they use and recommend? Where do you source it?
Thanks LGC

This board's owner's Traditional wax or Silver Glide. Try to avoid any wax with silicone in it as it may affect the ability of finishes to attach to the wood that you put across the saw.
PS I live about a K from the ocean and have no problems with rust on the table, I also keep it covered with an old bed sheet unless I am using my saw.Pat

I use Ubeauts' Traditional Wax and it does a great job.
Make it a habit to wax the table at the end of the day, after I run the ShopVac over the floor.
Highly recommended product.
Oh BTW, which tablesaw did you buy?

Cheers guys.
I got the TSC-10HBR with the router table wing and a tenoning jig and upgraded the router fence. Very well priced and it went together relatively easy. Just put a couple of test pieces through and it's sweet.
Thanks for the advice.

I polish all cast iron surfaces every 2 to 3 months. (I just did it yesterday.)
This is what I do. I start off with a card scraper to remove any rust. I then sand the rust with 0000 steel wool with some turps. Finally I apply a coat of Ubeaut Traditional wax all over and buff it off right away.
It works every time. Have fun.Visit my website at www.myFineWoodWork.com

Wongo just likes the nice smell.
I like Traditional Wax because it keeps the bed of my t/saw and other similar surfaces from rusting and gives a beaut slippery finish when running stock over the jointer, thicknesser, t/saw and b/saw.
You buy it from here http://www.ubeaut.com.au/ubhome.htm , or your local C/tec, Hare & Forbes or w/turning supplier
