Wixey Saw Fence Digital Readout on TL10-S
I know this has been reviewed on the forum before and I don't intend to repeat those reviews.
I purchased mine from Woodcraft in the US, who have a special ATM for $US99.99, which includes the Wixey Digital Angle Gauge, postage was $US51.70 (Woodcraft charged the exact cost listed on the USPS website) so in toal the 2 products cost me $A165 landed in my local post office. It was ordered on 11/01 and arrived on 22/01, a bit longer than the 3-7 days quoted by USPS for Express, but not too shabby (some stuff has taken longer to arrive from Sydney or Perth!).
As these 2 would have cost me well over $A300 to buy locally I could not go past this deal.
There has been some discussion this forum about shipping methods from the US and I can certainly recommend USPS Express, Woodcraft gave me a tracking number and I could see at any stage where it was. Very good service and communication from Woodcraft.
I would just like to document my experience with installing the Wixey Saw Fence Digital Readout on my Carbatec TL10-S tablesaw, as it differs somewhat from the instructions provided with the product (which I don't think are particularly good).
Photo 1 Shows the box that contains both Wixey products, the yellow sticker shows it also contains the Digital Angle Gauge
Photo 2 The contents of the box, they even supply 2 drills needed for the installation!
Photo 3 The (not so good) instructions recommend drilling holes 1 1/2" from the front of a Biesemeyer or clone fence. I was under the impression that mine was a Biesemeyer clone, but 1 1/2" would have been too far back. I finished up drilling 20mm from the front, but 25mm would have been OK too,
Photo 4 Holes drilled and tapped and brackets on, sub fence to take digital readout fitted
The only "fiddly" bit was in fitting the 2 halves of the aluminium sub-fence together and making sure the join was smooth (some minor filing required). They supply a bracket/gauge to make sure the sensor tracks are fitted together at the right distance.
Photo 5 Front view of same
Photo 6 Assembly fitted back on the tablesaw
Photo 7 Shows bracket for digital readout magnet fitted to fence
Photo 8 Guess what, the 2 fences line up!
Photo 9 I had been looking for an imperial scale for the tablesaw, as the TL10-S only comes with metric, no longer needed. As an extra bonus it also reads in Imp fractions.
Photo 10 This shows I would have been in trouble if I had drilled 1 1/2" back from the front for the brackets, the moral is measure and check before getting stuck in.
Overall, it took me about 3 leisurely hours to do all this, it can be done in less, but hey what's the hurry I'm retired!
Calibration was dead easy, touch fence to blade, press zero button, away you go.
Have tried it with the dado set fitted as well, same procedure, touch, reset zero, away you go. As well as ABSolute measurement, it also has the Incremental, as well you can reset to zero at any point. For instance, if you are doing rebates with the dado, cut one reset to zero, move, say 100mm, cut another one and so on.
To sum up
Am I happy, you bet
Would I buy it again, a resounding yes.
Would I recommend it, very much so

Congrats on installing it - I spent the day building my new TS, and will tackle the wixey tomorrow or over the weekend. Not sure how it will fit with the jet - hopefully easily!

Due to my lack of foresight and planning, Ok I stuffed up, I had to remount my Wixey fence to my saw as it got in the way of the top drawers in the cabinet that I have built to go between the saw rails. I threw away the brackets that they supply and drilled straight through the extrusion and then tapped 6mm holes in the underneath of the TS fence. This tucks it up aginst the fence and it looks a lot nicer. I drilled 10mm holes in the Wixey extrusion for adjustment as I did not take the fence off the saw and drilling from underneath is not the most accurate thing you can do. If I can figure out how to do it I will post a picture later today.

Fred,
Just taken delivery today of the Wixey Digital fence so I'll be referring to your great thread for installation, might also have questions as the day progresses tomorrow.

Those things go thru' batteries like a kid thru a bag of lollies. I haven't had a battery last more than a few days in mine & am more than a bit peeved. I hope it is just that I have a dud unit or my shed is too damp.
I've started a project to replace the pancake 3v battery with a couple of rechargeable batteries in a separate housing. When I can get some quiet time in the shed I'll get it wired up & tested, then post it as a stand alone project, maybe ask Profession or Wixey to put it on their site - I doubt they have shares in a battery company.

My first battery lasted 9 months...I suspect though that I left it to self power off a few too many times....
The replacement from bunnies was about $3.50.
It took about 30 seconds to re-calibrate.

Batteries certainly last more than a few days even if I leave it on which I frequently do. I do concur though, it would be simple to make an external pack which would last for years in ordinary use and I have been meaning to do so, amongst a thousand other things it has low priority.
