On monday I did the equivalent of a pub crawl except it was woodworking places (never mind). Anyway I thought I'd report on my findings. All places were within about 10 to 15 minutes of each other. I wanted to look at table saws (see thread below Jet Proshop vs Laguna Fusion). Started at Leda machinery. This in a word was dreadful. You walk into an office not a showroom but eventually you're taken into a large shed and there was very little on display. The salesman was poor on listening to my requirements and when I talked delivery he couldn't even give me a quote. He basically wasn't interested in my low end requirements. Their cabinet saws are fairly cheap but an unknown brand.

Then went to Hare and Forbes. A much better experience. Salespeople were great but they didn't have the saws that I was interested in on display. Once again unknown brands but I know many people have bought from them and are happy.

Next to the Woodworking warehouse which I knew sold the Lagunas. This was the best of the lot. Was able to fiddle with it including turning it on, removing the fence and the guard and the splitter. Salesperson was excellent and answered all questions. This is one of the few 10 amp saws that is a perfect balance between a contractor saw and a full blown 3hp 15 amp cabinet saw. This is a clear number one and ticks all my boxes. Excellent fence, comes on wheels and has options to extend the table surface and fence.

Finished at carbatec. I'm like a kid in a candy store here. So much to look at. I nearly always end up buying something when I come here. Salespeople great but their only hybrid saw was the Jet and it wasn't in the same league as the Laguna. Their low end cabinet saw was well priced and looked good however.

Anyway an interesting experience and was worth doing.
