40mm Spindle moulder sharft
I am looking at purchasing a second hand spindle moulder but it has a 40mm sharft. I am only familiar with the 3/4", 30mm and 1 1/4" bore cutter blocks.
Are there new cutter blocks available to suit this machine without going to much difficulty (in Australia) or can you get a reducer to run a 30mm cutter block? When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep---not screeming, like the passengers in his car.

Mark,
never seen any 40mm tooling in the flesh or in any of the catalogues that I have.

Thanks Mick,
I think I would be better off buying a 30mm or 3/4" spindle moulder as none of my catalogues have any 40mm bore cutters either.
Might have to put a wanted add on I think.

Mark,
if it's cheap enough you could get the shaft machined down to 30mm.

Mick,
It is cheep and its a nice machine but if I stuff around with getting the sharft machined down it it could cost a bit.
My other concern is that I would like to use my larger 1/2" pannel router bits on the spindle moulder and I dont know if you can get adapters to fit the older machines.
I think it might be in the too hard basket as Im only saving myself probably $500 for a new machine and by the time I stuff around that would just about cost me $300-400 to sort it out.
I just love the larger older machines. They are a pain ass to move around but most of the time they woork better.
Thanks....MarkWhen I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep---not screeming, like the passengers in his car.

Mark,
unless you can change the speed (increase considerably) your router bits aren't going to give a very good finish. I'm sticking with both my spindle moulder and router table until I can afford a Felder machine with swap out shafts and different speeeds which will allow good results from both moulding heads and router bits. Sigh.... don't know how long that will be though, so many machines, so little time and money.
