Here's a clearer photo of how it works, with some comments on it.
Have spent a few hours jointing and thicknessing some timber today (from one of Studley's reject hardwood sales). Comes up beautifully, and accurately sized.

Thanks for that ajw. I'll hopefully put my setup up over the next week.
It's interesting how people get the same result but with slight differences. It'll be clearer when I get some shots, as with all things it comes down to what you have on hand.

Finally got around and finished sorting out the Wixey on my 15" thicky.
Shots tell the story pretty much. I used what I had on hand apart from buying the length of aluminium extrusion that the gauge is fixed to.
It took a bit of head scratching but I figured the best place so far as I could figure for myself was to tap holes into one of the columns of the thicky. This is where the 5mm angle is fixed to. From there on it's as you see it.
Parts of it may not be pretty, but it is has the primary job of working.
