Drill Stator rewind
Hi.. maybe a longshot but hoping someone may be able to help..
I have an old drill that required the insulated leads that protrude from the stator coils to be replaced.. they had rubber insulation that had perished badly.
To get to the start of the leads i had to remove the coils from the cage.. and because they were so rigid, the sharp edges of the cage gouged several of the wires.
To fix the problem i need to remove about 5 turns of the coils..
Q1.. As there are 2 coils, will i need to remove an equal amount from the other coil ?
Q2.. Will this effect the motors performance ?
Q3.. After i've completed the job and its bound with cotton tape, .. Would regular poly varnish be appropriate to seal the unit ?
Cheers .. Ken
