Thumbs down OS-58 Scheppach bobbin sander- dying

Just having a gripe. Have one of these OS-58 Scheppach bobbin sander units for just over a year and its been slowly getting worse. Each time I go to use it now I get less time on it b4 it starts to slow down. Im convinced the motor is on the way out but dealer, after testing it said it was ok and normal... Well machine(same model) at work gets far more abuse and is 5years+. Dealers response was its probably an original with a german motor, these ones are all outa china...Well im sorry but to me that confirms my suspicion.
If over heating causes the motor to slow down, then can i suggest its over heating prematurely because its a garbage motor. Its not as if Im grinding ironbark for hours on end.

I guess there is warranty and there is warranty.
I 'll just get more frustrated and it will eventually just die.
I can tell you I wont be returning there for a new one.
A shame because the one at work is a great little machine.

Obviously it has a lifetime warranty.....when it breaks it has reached the end of its lifetime, and is therefore out of warranty

I have the same bobbin sander purchased 3 years ago and still going strong, a very useful tool for the money. Think I bought it at a H&F sale.

As I say to myself every time I visit Aldi..."I mean, how bad can it be??"

I think what bugs me most is they can sell the same unit without even a model number change but that has very different quality insides.

If the agent has said that the motor is in spec and fine , I would start looking at the gearbox and bearings,

As they get hot bearings when worn, will start to bind, this will cause the machine to slow down, but be fine when restarted several hours later, the bearings have cooled slightly, , then when they warm up the unit slows again..

    My 2 cents worth.

I have had one for a little over a year too, and mines going well.
I'd start by writing an email to Hare & Forbes [or where ever you bought it] then follow it up with a phone call.
Just start asking questions about warranty and servicability of the machine, telling them what you've written on the forum.
Got to be worth a try, you might be surprised by there response.
If not PLEASE tell everyone on the forum as we all need to know about doggy machinery & poor proformance.
    Cheers, crowie.

    X-Grain,

As I said in my last post , I would suspect the gearbox/bearings.

Is the motor hot when you stop the machine???

Can you detach the motor from the drive to the bobbin, and then let the motor run , , then check the gearbox to see how tight it is to turn???,

Is the motor getting hot when not driving the gearbox???

I am not familiar with the machine, but if the dealer has said the motor is fine , then the gearbox is next n line as a suspect.

Sounds more like bearing heating up to me.
Its not difficult to change them and they are not expensive either.

But do it before it fully stops.
I had to fix a friends dewalt saw but they had used it so hard when bearing were dead that it melted the plastic case the motor sits in (bearing at back) looked like it had been extruded everywhere..
