How Do I Replace A V belt on a Sander?
I have a Carbatec brand 6"x9" Belt and Disc Sander. I have had it since June 09 and am happy with its performance. This afternoon the V belt driving the disc disintergrated and I am unsure of the steps to replace it. The manual that came with the machine has no information on the process other than an Assembly Diagram and Parts List.
I can discuss it with Carbatec by phone but thought someone on the Forum could probably outline the steps for me.
So far I have removed the cap screw and lock washer from the centre of the disc. I imagine the disc now comes off the drive shaft somehow and expose the belt. There appears to be no key holding the disc onto the shaft.
Any suggestions on how to get the disc off the shaft? There must be some way of stopping the drive shaft from rotating to allow me to work the disc off.
Help please.
