    Default Cylinder Rental Prices

Just about to pay my yearly gas cylinder rental invoice and was wondering what others are currently paying for E size monthly rental fees - mine are $11.99+GST=$13.18 per cylinder per month.

It seems from this post that Supagas is almost the same price:

I thought of changing suppliers and/or bottle size but it doesn't seem to make much of a difference.

I just picked up an E of argon yesterday, and I paid slightly more, about $15 a month I think from Mig o Mag in canberra. Gas cost was identical for D and E size ($120), bottle rental about $20 a year more for E.

Thanks for the feedback. Seems there isn't a great difference in pricing so I may as well stay with the same mob. Sure hate to hand over that $470 though - would have bought some more nice tools.

Ha I gotta laugh at this one. I phone up BOC the other day about an E size bottle that was the 25% Co2, and the bird on the phone said it was like $160 just for the gas and then like $160 for rental.

And the other tri mixed gases were more.. I guess that is one reason why many people do not like going to BOC.

Then I phoned up another place asking for a price on a spool of 1.0mm WIA wire ER70S-6 and they wanted $87..... what a bunch of w _ _ _ ers. I said that the going rate for a spool of 0.9mm is around the $35ish mark and he replied, "oh yeah but this is and odd size blah blah blah"...so I hung the phone up.

That does seem a bit much, granted it is a brand name wire though.

yeah, but that's all it is "branding".

Never know where it's being made, they just find the cheapest stuff that works ok and put it in a box with their name on it. They do not manufacture and make the wire themselves to my knowledge.

Good point, its not exactly rocket science to consistently draw and copper coat wire these days.

Its all becasue people want it at the cheapest price, the first thing people ask is how much? what's your price? etc etc

All depends on what you are using the wire for. Are you wanting to make money from welding or just mucking around. Are you using a robot running flat out all day?

A softer wire is better as it will have less of an abrasive action on your contact tips, feed rollers, liner and guide tubes. All of which when worn affect wire feed ability. Inconsistent wire feedability creates an erratic arc. An erratic arc creates spatter and changes the depth of penetration.

Consistency is a big problem as well how consisten is the wire from spool to spool and pallet to pallet?

    This costs extra.

    Blah blah blah
