    Default Sessions clock

    I recently purchased a Sessions tambour clock with mechanical movement at a yard sale. I am unable to find this model anywhere and would like some information on it. I have not found any numbers or markings on the movement yet. Any help would be appreciated.

    Question

    Surely there is some one in your area such as an antique dealer, or horologist, who would be able to help.

    I have a mantle Sessions from about 1915 and the paper instructions look in about the same condition. I think it is almost impossible to date a Sessions exactly, because clock makers purchased the movements in quantity, and then made the cabinets. This means the movement could have been years old before being sold as a clock. They are a great clock, and mine runs as good as the day it was made, but has been to the repair shop twice the last forty six years.

    We know its age roughly as it was a wedding present in that year as a new clock.

    Just a thought Idubia. The link that Ravlord put up states that it's a Feb.1928 vintage clock, and on the inside of the rear door is a label with what looks like "28 2" stamped on it. From the picture of yours, I thought I could make out "27 12" done with similar font, so maybe yours is Dec.1927.??

    Found this too;

    This is not a bad read either;

    I went searching through my old files and found the instructions for my Sessions clock. I had typed this out faithfully many years back, and thought I'd put it up here in case anyone reading up about Sessions might be looking for same.

    SESSIONS CLOCK No. 288
    TEMPUS FUGIT
    An eight day – half hour strike – Cathedral gong – turn back
    Directions for striking

    In order to make the clock strike the hour desired, turn the long hand up to the twelve and allow the clock to strike. Then turn back to nine and forward again, to twelve. Continue in this way, until the clock strikes correctly.
    The pendulum, ball & key are fastened to the bottom of the clock.
    To Regulate

    Should it be desired to have the clock run faster, place the small end of the key on the abor at the twelve, and turn the top of the key to the left toward “F”. To run the clock slower, turn the top of the key toward “S”.
    Garantee

    The Sessions Clock Co. garantees this clock to be free from defects of material or workmanship. Should any appear, the clock will be put into first class shape or replaced.
