BOB Frustrations
I finall got round to boxing my CNC4PC C10 breakout board today, and getting the power on it. I hooke dup my home switches, and cabled for a touch-off pad.
Went down to DSE, and bought a 25pin DB male to male cable to go to the second parallel port. Made sure that the cable had all pins wired. "Yes Sir" he says, all pins are wired.
Spent a frustrating couple of hours, trying to figure out what I ws doing wrong, as I couldn't get the limits or touch-pad to signal. Read all the docs againg, and double checked all my wiring. Still couldn't get the rotton things to input into Mach3.
I eventually checked the parallel cable with a multi-meter, and the sodding thing isn't straight through wiring. I reckon it's a laplink cable, and has crossovers. I had a 25pin DB male in my odds-and-sods box, so I cut one end off the cable, in preparation to soldering a new end on. and the damm thing has only got 15 wires.
Anyone one got any suggestions, as to where I can get the right cable in Melbourne?................and please don't suggest DSE.Chris

DB 25 Cable
Hello Chris
Not being a Mexcian I'm not sure where Ocean Controls are ( or you for that matter ) but they do have the right cable.
Ocean Controls
PO Box 2191
Seaford BC
Factory 3/24 Wise Ave
Seaford,
Vic, Australia 3198

As a rant, DSE should change the name to just DS 'couse there isn't much E anymore.

Try jaycar, I got mine from there its a big and bulky one so I gather all wires are connected, never had a problem but if I did I would have been unable to proceed if this happened, I would have thought I cooked the board and sent it back as I did when I broke the parallel connection on the pc because the cable was so stiff and bulky. (Xyoltex Kit)
Probbaly costs them $1 and I paid $15 I think it was, probbaly more.

Thanks guys. I picked up one from Jaycar tonight, and problem has been solved.
I got the z touch plate working, and the z axis setup with a home/limit. So am very pleased with myself, and will do the x & y home/limit switches tomorrow.Chris
