Default Good free 2D dxf to g-code software

    Hi Guys

I have been playing around with Mach3, driver board and some stepper motors while i am waiting for parts to arrive before i can start a router build.
What i require is a good free dxf to g-code toolpath generator. I have played a bit with Cut2D and i like it but do not want to pay for software at this stage until i am all set-up and running.
Can anyone suggest something that is free?
I have couple across a couple in the past and not sure what they were.
Would like something that is easy to use.

    Thanks

Only one I know of is Cambam
I haven't used it so can't comment on it.

    Default CamBam

CamBam is very easy to use, but be aware for the free version (V0.8). It sometimes pushes the Z-Axis to -41 or -43 for some reason. Noramally on shallow work where only one cutting pass is neccasary, it will for some reason drop Z to -43 after the first pass and try and do a second pass. Fortunately my Z limit switch stops it from doing any damage.

The latest version (V 0.9.7f) works just fine, but it is not free.

    Cheers

    Piet

    Thanks for the feedback Piet

That is an incentive to buy the full product
Can you see the deep Z moves in the gcode??
    Cheers,
