    Default Spindle Motors

Has anyone come across these STROP motors.

    Web: http://www.ms-motor.com/spindle_moto...tor_strop.html

I got a price from the manufacturer, as follows:

    MX507,price is 210USD/PC
    MX08-25,price is 220USD/PC
    MX08-25A,price is 220USD/PC

this is strop spindles ,no need frequency inverter

I was confused by his indication that no frequency inverter was required, so I assume these are brushed motors, not brushless.

Any thoughts if they would be good to use as a spindle

I may be missing the mark here.

But I think the spindles in the link are belt driven. They are not in themselves a motor.

Look at the electrical specifications. No such thing in the list.

Go back one step and search "spindle motor"

Yep i think your right Greg.

The page is really crap so i couldn't make heads or tail of what was going on.
This is linked from the "Spindle and frequency inverter - woodworking" menu which confused me.

I think I should check the other link for 4.the electric spindles for woodworking

    Yeah that is better.

And this page is the ones we have been buying. Ebay seller probably gets them from here.

Here is the price for the units I thought may be useful

    ADX85-24Z/1.5,price is 360USD/PC
    2.2kw inverter,price is 198USD/PC
    (about $770 Aus)

    ADX100-24Z/2.2G,price is 550USD/PC
    3.7kw inverter,price is 260USD/PC
    (about $1100 Aus)

I think this is a little expensive by the time its converted to Aus dollars or is this in the ball park for what you guys have bought them for previously

    Greg:

Is this the guy you bought your motors from?

    hi guys
just to put in my bit - I have just placed an order with [email protected] for a 1.5kw air-cooled spindle, 1,5kw vfd inverter, and er 11 collets.
he initially wanted 490USD but was 'happy' to come down to 450USD for the lot.
This also includes all postage and delivery to Australia.
As far as I could see, this was the best price for such a set-up.
I will post when I receive the unit and let everyone know what it is like.
ps: this guy claims that his spindles are 'superior' as they have 'german bearings'.
    we will see.
    Cheers

    Hi Guys,
Just found this on Ebay while looking for lead screw bearings and blocks.

Spindle and VFD in AUD http://cgi.ebay.com.au/a-water-coole...742.m153.l1262
0.8kW water cooled spindle and VFD $522 AUD

Could be worth a look, also has 1.5kW unit as well.

Now I should have purchased bearings and blocks when I got the lead screws but I didn't so if anyone has any ideas on where to look locally I would appreciate it. Oh by the way there are 5/6" ID bearings I am looking for and sealed of course with blocks.

    Cheers
    Steve

    Steve,
That supplier is the one that most seem to use. I know that Rod, Greg and Bob have purchased their spindles from him and I used him for my rails and ball screws. He is very helpful and sends replies in reasonably good English.

    Hi,

My 0.8KW aircooled spindle + inverter cost US$400 including shipping. The water cooled version was the same price. His price was quite a bit cheaper than his ebay store.

Thanks for the heads up Peter,

Just scored myself a 1.5kw for $400 from your link - water cooled. Now all i need is a pump and router table to mount it to.

    Hi,

    Good for you.

I received mine yesterday. The plastic to that the power connector is attached to is broken. Not a big deal but I will have to make another.

Also, the VFD is rated at 1.5KW

    Chees,

    Peter.

The connectors seem to be a nagging issue with these units.
I suspect common practice is to visit and repair these immediately, which will be done on mine.

What are you going to use for a pump?
Has anyone thought of an external mechanical pump such as a car fuel pump?

    Hi Mike,
Some have used a pond pump but from what I have discuused with others is that a positive pressure pump is required to do the job properly. Small diam tubing and usually a high lift makes the pond pumps a little weak.
There are plenty of choices with 12 volt DC being readily available on ebay for $60 to $80.
    Cheers,
    Rod
