    Default Spindle rotation

When I set up my spindle on the bench , I had the spindle running cw when looking at the collet end. Now that I have the spindle on the router , looking down at the collet , it looks to be running ccw.
What is the correct way to view it from for it to be running cw.

For standard RH cutters, it needs to run CW looking from the machine end.... But you can get LH cutters to match your setup. My guess is it would be cheaper to change the rotation of your spindel

What spindle are you running. Your post lacks detail

If you have a Huanyang spindle, hitting JOG on the front panel reverses direction of travel

I'm using an Huanyang spindle, what I'm trying to work out is when i start the spindle with the M3 (cw) command and the spindle turns is the rotation taken from looking down at the collet or from the bottom looking up at the collet.

I've tried the JOG button but nothing changes.

Would swapping two of the wires going to the spindle change the rotation?

    Hi Ken,
Yes changing two of the 3 phase wires on the VFD would change direction of the spindle and the best way to do it.

Best way to see what is happening is put one of your cutters in the spindle. It should be rotating so that the cutting edge will be digging in the material you are cutting. In reverse rotation it would rub on the back edge of the cutter.

On a standard cutter that would have the spindle in a clockwise direction looking down from the top of the spindle.

The reason the jog button didn't work is becasue you have the VFD set to external control - PD1 or PD2 setting - can't remember which one.

I see you finally got your machine bits so does that mean a new machine or a re-build?
    Cheers,
    Rod
