The Harley is definitely proving to be a handful.
I spent most of the day trying to "encourage" the mixing bowl from the bottom of the carbie.
I finally got it apart and turned the bowl further to the front, moving it anyway from the cylinder.

I also shortened the intake manifold a little more and changed it's angle slightly to centre the carbie better.
In the picture above I've marked the cut through the manifold which still needs to be repaired.
The second of the arrows shows the previous position of the bowl, that's were the nut that's now next to the throat of the carbie was.

The Carburettor has ended up a lot straighter and more centred than it was before.
The piece of MDF sticking out from the fins is supporting the carbie until it's locked in place.
It was a long day with not a lot to show, but well worth it.

    Cheers
    Trev.
    Looks great Trev,

You are into quilting - that's a quilter's cutting board that the carby is sitting on - good stuff.

By the way - yours is on the horizon - Go Melbourne Storm - you know what I mean.

    Regards

    Keith

I don't think I've heard of either of them before.

In between snacking on chocolate I got the gearbox reattached to the clutch (if there was one).
The reason was to check that the drive sprocket which is between the gearbox and the clutch housing was square and running free.
Everything looks pretty good so far!.

From here I can make the chain guard that partially surrounds the sprocket.
Then it will be on the gearbox itself, which really needs an overhaul!.

Hope everyone's having a great Easter long weekend!.

    Cheers

Cold and wet here today, not the best for using bodyfiller or spray painting.
Things took a lot longer to dry but I got the chain guard into primer.
Being wedged down between the clutch and the gearbox it's not something that will really been seen.

Hopefully tomorrow the weather will improve and I'll get a top coat or two on it.

The pictures below shows the three steps I used in making it.

When it's painted up it should look as if it's all one piece.

    Cheers

    Trev,

Forgot to say - well done Storm. Cats quilt finished - Storm next.

Agree with Crowie - you should have a Painting Masterclass

    Trev,

Thought you might be interested in progress. Not exactly proportioned but think it's going well.

The back of the cover is looking good. May I ask why paint the front before doing the back would it not be easier to finish the component then pain all in one go. Not as though it makes any difference to the great bike builds that you have produced

Good question mate I'd never really thought of it like that.
I guess it's just an Autistic thing!.
I see the parts as two separate things because when you remove the cover the back is still bolted to the engine.
    If that makes any sense.

I'll be scratching my head for days over that one.

    Cheers
    Trev.
