    Thanks Alan,

Really appreciate your comments. This is a fantastic locomotive to build. Maybe a bit hasty in saying I will build a diesel as my next build- steam has historic heritage beauty about it.

    Regards

    Keith

The railings look great Keith I found the split pin method much easier to use that making the supports.

Now what was it someone said about diesels being bricks on wheel or something similar

For me; a steam locomotive is a living machine.

Keith, you could always model a steam engine that looks like a diesel.
Try Bulleid's Southern Railway Leader. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SR_Leader_class
Yes it was built and tested, but never entered service. I have a book on it but it appears to be on long term loan at present.

There were some magnificent streamlined steam locomotives.

    Thanks guys,

The Edward Henty is pretty iconic isn't it ?

Derek - there is a little bit of truth about the "brick on wheels" jibe that Trev commented on.

I still have quite a bit of time to think about my next locomotive. Something different and really challenging could be a shay with it's peculiar drive system.

Then there is also the beautiful Crampton - lovely mechanicals on that loco.

Look forward to any more suggestions.

    Thanks

    Keith

How about a little work horse of the yards a shunter. Have removable panels so you could model the engines as well
