G'Day Murray,
And welcome to another "Canuck" plus a toymaker; great.
Toymaking is a part of woodwork one will find very enjoyable and relaxing.
It's all about having a good time with your woodwork.

Thanks
Thanks for all the welcomes.
I made just a few toys quite a number of years ago and gave them to my nephews and at that time I never took pictures. They were somewhat beginner plans but were fun to make. Now at my age I am wanting to try my hand at toys again.
I have been doing some woodturning but I want to do something different for a change.
I only do woodworking a couple of month a year so each time I get back at it, it is like starting over again so I really do not get very good at anything. I think I forget all the mistakes I made and make them all over again I enjoy marveling at the work being done in this forum.
Anyway, it's all in fun.

Hi BYC
Welcome to the site. It's nice to have a new Canadian as a member. I harbour a love of what I have seen of Prince Edward Island (Anne of Green Gables of course), and think Canada, generally must be gorgeous. One of these days, I simply must ride the Rocky Mountaineer, along with hundreds of other Aussies who have made the pilgrimage to Canada on holidays.
You also have a great choice of timbers, which we don't use out here, so seeing work from the other side of the world can be interesting for this aspect, as well as, of course, others' interpretations of things.
I can only speak about David's experience, and it's quite amazing how much you can learn, just by reading, viewing others' work, and practice.
There is something so deeply satisfying about creating a piece of art or craft, that nothing else quite compares. It lifts the spirits, and is enormously beneficial to one's sense of self esteem.
And anytime that we beat ourselves up because we don't quite reach a particular goal that we aspire to, I always remind myself that thousands of others could simply not do what we can. Lots of people can simply not make anything. It tends to help balance any self doubt quite quickly.
There's plenty of help to be had on this forum, with lots of generously spirited people ready and willing to share their knowledge with others. It is one of the delights of being on board.
Cheers
LiliB

Thanks LiliB, munruben and Christos for the nice welcome also. When I get back in the shop I will try my hand at something in the toy line and it will be from wood. I have send away for a few books with plans on toy making so will be a good start.

G'Day Murray,
Toy making is so rewarding and relaxing and it helps use up all your scraps.
Have a look on-line for some "FREE" toy plans as well as purchasing some books from something like Amazon.
You could also put an "SOS" to the very kind, helpful blokes & ladies on the forum, asking for some assistance.
Enjoy your woodwork.
Cheers from "On Top DownUnder", Crowie
