10" ELECTRIC BRAKES - DEXTER VS TROJAN VS CHEAPYS
I've got 10" TROJAN electric drum brakes on twin axles, and I'm looking at changing out everything, i.e. the drums themselves, backing plates, brake shoes, and magnets. Everything is basically getting worn out, even the drum surfaces.
Supercheap are a Trojan dealer and I got a price of $200 per kit so $800 in total. Found some Ebay sellers who have prices of $100 for non-branded aftermarket kits so $400 in total, quite a saving. They even have bearings and seals in that price
I haven't been too impressed with Trojans service & knowledge, plus Melbourne trailers isn't too far from me and they deal with Dexter. I also was quite impressed with the performance of Dexter brakes I had on trailer weighing about 2.6 tonne loaded. The Trojans have never gave as good performance but that could be for a variety of reasons not connected with quality.
Does anyone have actual knowledge (not just opinions) of the performance of Dexter vs Trojan vs Non-branded aftermarket brakes.
Cheers,
Keith.
