off-road 7 x 4 tradesman trailer
Hey all, I am currently in the process of having an off-road 7 x 4 tradesman trailer built. The idea is to be able to leave camping equipment all packed up and ready to head off rather than the dreaded packing and unpacking.
One of the first things I will be doing is setting up the curb side as a kitchen/mess area and the road side with shelves for camping equipment; I am planning to put a battery or 2 in the trailer as well for lighting and have it charged from the car or charger via an Anderson plug.
Has anybody done anything similar to this fit-out any diagrams or pictures would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Heggs

Hey Heggs I recently bought a 6 x 4 builders trailer to do the same except the drivers side will have shelves not for camping gear but my tools of trade with the intention of a working/touring holiday of the big island. Have not got to the fit out stage as yet but have a few ideas and will be keeping those interested up to date via my thread.

what i did when i set up the boys ute to charge a remote battery is to put a 30 amp thermal circuit breaker in line. Of course a normal circuit breaker/fuse will do fine.

I will never be the person who has everything, not when someone keeps inventing so much cool new stuff to buy.

Hi Heggs.
I am in the process of doing basically the same thing to my mowing trailer.
Slide in kitchen is finished, which also has a 12v power center with numerous cig plugs, anderson plugs and 240v panel with 15amp caravan input plug.
I had a few days at a van park at South Ballina last week.
Everything worked a treat.
Next step is the tent to go on top.
I found MySwag.org The Off-road Camper Trailer Forum - Index to be a great resource for all things campertrailerish.
Kitchens, living on 12v, gear good and bad.

Thanks Mejohnno,
I found that webforum yeterday and have registered for it just waiting for the reply email, as soon as mine is built I will start a thread with pictures of the fitout.
I looked around at buying a second hand trailer and then modifying to suit but after looking for over 12 months and not being able to find something not requiring major work I made the move to have it custom made to my own specs. it has cost a few more dollars than i wanted to spend but hopefully it should last many years.
Have you got any pictures of your setup?
