    Default American Oak table

Hi all, thought I'd post a table I made at work.

It's 3000 x 1200 x 760 and all solid oak. The pedestals are roughed out on the bandsaw and router and finished by hand with spokeshaves, a compass plane and ROS - and lots of hand sanding. The parquet top is about 8mm thick and glued to a veneered 18mm MDF substrate with 24hr cure epoxy - all pieces are fitted individually.

Now that is going to be a spectacular table when the top has been sanded and the whole table finished .Is it for yourself?

I've just become an optimist . Iv'e made a 25 year plan -oopps I've had a few birthdays - better make that a 20 year plan

No not for myself, for a customer. The top is finished, they wanted uneven boards (I love uneven, means I don't have to be as careful), and it will get distressed (ditto for the careful bit) and heavily waxed. The unevenness takes the wax up and you could swear it was made 150 years ago when they finish with it. I'll try to get some pics of it finished.

That's a real monster! How is the top attached to the base?
    .
I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.

Two countersunk screws in the top of each pedestal and three in the top rail of the base. It has to be removable for transport as it weighs a ton.
