    Default form ply as flooring

    Hi Chaps
I'm about to fit six 19mm x 2400x1200 form ply sheets on 8x2 joists as a raised floor to a shed like structure.
Question, what size/type/spacing nails to use and if a "no nails" type of glue should also be used along the sheet edges.

    Thanks a lot

With red tongue particle board flooring the nail spacings are 50 mm in from the edge 250 centres. Short edge 200 centers. Use a 50mm nail minimum. We use twisted shank nails and a bead of "no nails" as well. Set the joists at 450 centres.

    Cheers

    Question

Wondering about a tounge, which would mean grooving all of your adjoining long edges.

Thank you for the prompt reply concerning the nail spacing, my sheets 1200x2400mm dont have a tonge and groove, but I suppose that a track of no nails along the edge will have to suffice. I will also paint the exposed edge for added protection.

    Default Jointing construction ply flooring

    Hi Mayburn,

It's usual practice to use an elastomeric bonding agent for flooring applications to allow for seasonal movement without rupture of the joint. 'No nails' as far as I'm aware isn't in this category. All the big players have elastomeric bonding agents. Try the Laminex agent or at the retail level a laminated timber flooring supplier.
