Thats fair enough Daniel, but on a 150x35 frame the splines and inlay serve to enhance the joint stength by increasing the glue surface area and control timber movement over time.

The splines stand out and attract the eye a bit (in the photo's anyway) but i wouldn't go so far as to say that they look yuk and cheap. I'd call them a point of interest.

I love both the table and chairs. Beautiful work. I'd be happy too if i was the client.

I quite like the mitre splines, but I'm going though that type of phase at the moment. Great job, well done.

    Thumbs up

    Beautiful workthere Chowcini.

I think that by keeping the architectural design of the table simple you have come up with a great overall balance in the design.

I'm in two minds about the appearanceof the mitre keys in the corners. They may have served the overall appearance better if they were dark.

Thanks Artme, I agree with design is simple and works very well more than i could have visioned it , Well the splines and inlay, same old story what the client wants the client gets , i think another contrasting timber something like a dark jarrah or purple heart, ebony or gidgee may have looked better? any way thanks for all the feedback .
    Regards Chowcini

Nice work. It's a slightly eccentric design overall so I don't think the inserts in the mitres are unattractive. With oxidation over time the whole colour pallette will likely become mellow and harmonious. I'm making a side table with NGR at the moment and was thinking that I wouldn't like to use it on a big project as the colour would be too confronting, but this shows that it works pretty well.

Nice workmanship and execution. I do like the glass / timber contrast.

The mitres, IMHO would have looked better in darker timber but, if that's what the client wanted then you've done a top job.

    Bob
