Merbau deck finish
Hi all.
A few months ago my sisters friends husband started a deck for her from merbau. He hasn't been able to get back to finish it so tomorrow I'm heading over to finish it off.
In the meantime it's been subjected to sun and rain which is my question. Will this come up well with a pressure wash and oil or will it need sanding first? Some places the oil has come out of the end of the planks laying on top of other planks.
Any pointers welcome.

I've used products like Intergrain Reviva with great success on both new decks unsealed for over 6 mths or to prepare an older deck for another coat or two.
Scrub on with a stiff brush and leave for 20 mins or so. Hose off. Try not to get any on surrounding walls as you could get some spot marks remaining on paint work - or ensure you hose it off there as well
And I always use Feast Watson Traditional Oil - 2 coats applied according to instructions wiping excess off with old towels. Do not walk on it for a few days if possible or put a few towels down to walk on if needed.

I was told to leave Merbau out in the weather for a couple of months before using for outdoor furniture n to allow the tannin to "wash"/bleed out.
On other advice, I used a stiff broom to wash the timber with a product called "wash-a-way" (or even Nappy San) to remove the rest of the tannins then pressure rinsed.
Timber looked pale but came up beautiful when finished with Organoil.

I did one which had to have been exposed for 6 months.
Belt sanded then pressure washed. Deck reviver then 2 coats of oil.
I now get the deck completely oiled(all sides) before i start to lay it. usually the client wants to do it themself to save money. Never had a problem if its done before i lay it.
