Shelix cutter
A few weeks ago I asked for help on Shelix cutters. below is an answer from Byrd.
Our "SHELIX" is indeed the best helical head on the market today, which is why so many people request it by name.
Our 'generic' 20" "SHELIX" for the 4-post planers fits the Carbatec CT-508 - is this the model you have? If so, that head is $1,195.00 US$ which includes the first full set of 4-sided solid carbide inserts. I am attaching the drawing so you may confirm spec's against your head. This head is currently in stock. There is an installation manual for this on-line @ www.byrdtool.com.
The JET models do not currently come with the "SHELIX", but the POWERMATIC (or WMH or Walter Meier) brand does. Grizzly also carries the "SHELIX" line of helical heads, along with their other options.
The 6" Carbatec may be the same as the Delta 37-196 6"jointer, so I am sending you that drawing for confirmation as well. It is $349.00 US$ and is currently in stock.
Any of our items may be obtained through our Australian distributor:

Subject : Shelix cutters
Dear Sir
I need to purchase a thicknesser and am looking at the Carbatec 20 inch model with standard cutters. Although Carbatec produces a SPIRAL Head version I am advised this is not a true Shelix style cutter.
1. Do you produce a retro fit kit for the 20 inch Carbatec model? ( www.carbatec.com.au)
2. Do the JET models use the Shelix cutters as standard. A lot of conflicting info about this.
3. What brands of equipment use the Shelix in a 20 inch cutter.
I am also interested in a 6 inch jointer, same issues as above.
3 phase 240 volt models preferred.

I have a Jet 16" thicknesser & Robert fitted a Shelix brand cutter to it. I would recommend ringing him & ask if cutters are available for any machine you may be interested in. He is excellent to deal with. No affiliation just a satisfied customer.
