Tried some FD two way #3 today... on 3/4" claret ash... worked really well.... easy to control and no jerking up like it happenes sometimes on reverse ones. Only now that I took all the tape and paper off I'm not real happy with the way the inside cuts are... will have to do quit a lot of sanding
Used the same blade on some 1/4" silky oak.... worked terrific... no fuzz at all.
Then tried 1/4 MDF ( oh come on.... quit groaning... ) cuts came out beautiful... no sanding required

Iain,
As it wood be inappropriate for me to be disrespectful to my elders, I will accept your assertion that I failed to get an edumacation.
When in fact I did get an edumacation, I just forgot to retain any of it .

Juvy,
Sorry to here about your problems with the two-way blades. I think I tried a two-way on my maple, it was so bad I didn't even finish the first cut. As I recall the blade didn't clear the sawdust well at all. So just moved on to the next blade.

Ian the two way blade cut good, just left the fuzz inside the cuts on the thicker claret ash... was fine on the thin silky oak... so I didn't waste my money. will use them on that
My fav blade is usually the #5 polar .... eh... something... lol great for anything over 1/4 inch, but then some people hate it.

Just to relay what I have read in Diana Thompson's books. The first few books just said to use a #5 double tooth blade...In the last couple she made a switch to FD polar blades on her compounds and her boxes....About the time she bought a new saw the blade change showed up....She was running Q3 Delta for many years then bought and RBI Hawk....

I used a #9 modified geometry today .... on 1" white cedar..... had tried #5 and it was just too slow for my liking today . Had been worried about the fuzzies, but all's well.
Sure felt strange after the #1 I used all week for the plywood name puzzles.... seems to take me a few minutes to get used to the blades whenever I change from real big to real small.
