    Default Lectern pattern

Am looking to build a music stand for my violinist daughter. She has specicified that the lectern have fancy scrollwork - by which she means ornate floral or geometric motifs. Probably along the lines of some of the tile work in Alhambra or the Taj Mahal or some of the paisley patterns? I'll probably be working in a teak or Tas oak and rosewood or jarrah double ply about 3mm thick so fairly fine work will be no concern, The contrasting woods will give enough contrasts/highlights without resorting to inlays or relief carving, therefore a silhouette pattern is what is wanted.

My trouble is finding a suitable pattern - I've combed through all the likely web sites I could find, which probably are only a small number of those out there, with little success. Can anyone suggest where I might find some reasonable designs?

Here are a few suggestions, you'll have to resize, or repeat and reposition like the corner designs to make things fit

Hope this helps or at least gives you some ideas.

I did not design these myself, they came from the net, from friends etc... no way of remember after years of collecting, so I can't give the designers credit.

Keju, many thanks for the sketches. They prompted me to do one last search and I came up with this site.

Lots of good ideas for decorate scroll work.

My project may be some months off yet - have only got to accepting the request so far, and have yet to visualise the finished items (swmbo calls it day-dreaming). Then comes the design sketching, the checking of what timber I have, the resketching, the drawing, the preparing all the timber, and finally making it. All this interleaved of course with other small and large projects, days spent reading and listening to music because I can't be bothered going to the shed, and most unfortunately some of what has been aptly called the curse of the drinking man. Maybe by the first half of next year!

Meanwhile another interleaved project is to photograph some past projects and this, and others, in progress. When I get to it I'll post some of them - on general though as I've done little straight scroll work.
