Frustrated!!
Ok, so I purchased one of these (https://www.gasweld.com.au/products/536477) which I've had for a couple months now. Ive been using the god-awful pinned blades that came with the machine until I broke both of them, so I ordered some FD pinless blades from Helen. (side note: I cant believe how THIN these blades are and SMALL the teeth are on these things! The blades I were using were GIANTS compared to these!)
Back to my point...so I whipped up a nice little peice of word art in photoshop, stuck it on a peice of wood and drilled the holes so I could insert my blade through to do the internal cuts...and then the cursing began! I have some AWFUL pinless blade adaptors (see below) that I cant seem to insert in the top adaptor, feed the blade through the hole in the wood, then insert into the bottom adaptor, and THEN manage to hook the adaptors over the lug thingie that holds them! And to make matters worse, if after 10 minutes of trying that I FINALLY get them both on, when I tension the blade, it slips out of the adaptor! AARRGGHH! Am I missing something? Am I stupid or did I waste $180 on a peice of crap? I mean, I wasnt expecting the best saw in the world but I thought I would at LEAST be able to use it!
Thanks for letting me vent

I have a Ryobi saw that looks identical. It works OK with the pinless adapters provided - I have never used pinned blades on it. You just need to make sure the tension is let off far enough, and that you tighten up the holding screws tight enough. I actually ended up losing one of the supplied adapters, and so I have bought some adapters that attach permanently to the saw, but haven't used it much since then.
The other day I described to my daughter how to find something in the garage by saying "It's right near my big saw". A few minutes later she came back to ask: "Do you mean the black one, the green one, or the blue one?".

I had the same issue on my Ryobi. Got a set of replacement blade adapters from WMS , and that solved the problem. You should be able to get them from somewhere more convenient to you, but have a look at what I'm talking about on the WMS site. Look under the link for scrollsaw accessories.

Thanks for the info guys, I was hoping I could get some replacement blade holders, but I wasn't sure if my saw would be able to take them, or even how to put them on! I'll do some more research to try and find something suitable. The main problem I have with my saw is that only gasweld sells this brand and the local store is useless for accessories, but I think it's just a generic saw with gasweld branding.

Just looking at the photo you have attached I would like to make a couple of suggestions.
The blade clamps look as though they need a good clean with spirits and a wire brush making sure you get right into the clamping area. It also looks as though the screw is bending the blade to much and this could be due to the anvil where the screw finds home is out of adjustment. Perhaps there is an adjustment in there somewhere. Make sure there is no oil anywhere near the clamp and never oil it. You might have to clean the clamp quite regularly because there will be a bit of oil carried into the clamp from new blades.
Make sure the the end of the screw is flat. Sometimes they have machine ridges on them that causes trouble. Just rub them on a piece of emery paper making sure that it ends up square. Make sure the emery is flat when you do that. That is on a flat surface and not hand held.
You might also be tightening the screw to much. When I tighten the top clamp on my Trupro saw it is only a bit more than finger tight. My screw grip from Hegner is only about 25mm in diameter so I'm not able to get much pressure on it. Don't put to much preasure on the blade when it tightened.
I hope this helps and there might be others who can advise more on these points
John

Thanks red gum but I didn't explain myself very well the photo attached isnt MY clamp, I just attached one that looks like it because I didn't know what they were called (I have since learnt that they are stirrup style) but you have some great tips that I will surely take on board. I'm looking at the Olsen conversion kit, has anyone had experience with that? It seems like a good price, the Hegner ones seem very expensive, $20 for 1 clamp? When I need 2 (top and bottom) it adds up!

No idea about Olsen ones. I have the WMS ones, and they work well. Somebody on here once suggested that cutting an extra slit in them with a dremel cut off wheel (I think that's what was used) improved the operation. I haven't done that so far, but then I haven't had a chance to use the saw much since I installed them either.
The other day I described to my daughter how to find something in the garage by saying "It's right near my big saw". A few minutes later she came back to ask: "Do you mean the black one, the green one, or the blue one?".

Thanks Peter I've looked at those and they are quite affordable, from what I can tell they only offer the pinned/pinless combination adapters for a 16in saw, which I'm sure would be way better than what I have!

There's an old thread about the adapters here
