We're getting a custom kitchen built to go in our small apartment.
Just wanted to get some comments about people who've done this before regarding our current quote...

I only have one quote so far, and getting at least one more.
The quote we have so far seems okay, but perhaps a bit on the expensive side.

see attachment for plan. (this is our design, not theirs...)

It's a fairly basic fit out.
- hardform laminate cabinets
- 1 x 800mm Blum drawers (2 drawers)
- 1 x 400mm Blum drawers (4 drawers)
- 1 x 450 pantry cabinet with 3 x Blum pantry drawer fittings
- fridge cabinet
- 2 standard corner cabinets
- a couple of standard overhead cabinets
- a row of overhead open cabinets
- standard laminate benchtop

for that we were quoted about $9,800

then $2800 for installation
which includes estimates for electrician, plumbing and removing the old kitchen.

Seems okay, but fairly expensive for standard fittings.

By the time we switch out for a caesarstone top, put in some splashbacks and upgrade a few things, we'll be coming up closer $15,000 I'd say, and that's before appliances...

seems like more than it should be for a fairly small kitchen.

your thoughts?
and any recommendations for kitchen builders that I can take specs to in Melbourne (preferably north subs) for a quote?

Cheers, and thanks for you helpful feedback - the people at this forum have been great!
