mounting heavy slate tiles
Hi,
I have some heavy (~3Kg) 295mm x 295mm slate tiles to attach to fibre cement board. On the back of them there is a plastic matrix/frame consisting of widely spaced tubes and strips.
This matrix is not like a rough flat surface you normally see on tiles and I am concerned that they will just fall off due to insufficient binding. Should I be glueing these on with standard tile cement or will I need something more? Had thought of screwing them from the back through the board into the little tubes.
I have ten of these to mount, will I need to use thicker board? Standard siding is 4.5mm and fairly flexible.
Any suggestions will be gratefully received.
Cheers Paul
