Hey guys,

So, I need some advice from someone who has renovated a bathroom in a unit with concrete over brick construction before. I'm looking to reconfigure the bathroom in my new diggs, as it's currently tiny.

I'm looking to move the shower into the bath for a shower/bath combo, leave the toilet where it is and put the vanity where the current shower is.

My problem is I need to adjust the hight of the plumbing in both the current bath and the current shower, but the existing plumbing looks well and truly built in. As the son and brother of a builder, I'm use to tearing off some sheeting and revealing a nice, easy to work with cavity - so all this concrete is doing my head in.

Pulling the tiles off in the kitchen - which I'm also renovating - today (final image) fulfilled my fears that these things would be well and truly stuck in. Is it that they've created a cavity in the brick, then just cemented over it once done? Meaning chiseling it back out shouldn't be too difficult?

If it's going to be a massive and expensive issue, then I can forgo it. I'm just keen on the format I've come up with as it will make the place look heaps better.

Greg
