Laminating Tas. Oak flooring to ply
I throw this one to the wise men of the forum...
What glue would I use to laminate 10mm thick 90mm wide Tassy Oak flooring to 12mm Ply? The project is a low-line entertainment unit and the panels are for both ends of the unit. The end panels will have a face frame attached with biscuits. I have sufficient material (floating flooring that I've run through a friends thicknesser to remove the high gloss top coat) to use up and this seems the best use of the flooring. It's been suggested I use a Bostik product called 'Ultrafix' that apparently is used by the flooring guys to attach flooring to a plywood underfloor. All and any advice would be most gratefully appreciated.

Since you are using the timber for furniture, I strongly advise you not to use any glue used for flooring. The glue is Bostik Ultraset, not Ultrafix. Flooring glues when dry and set are flexible to allow seasonal movement of floorboards attached to any flooring substrate.
For your purpose use pva. I use Kleiberit pva from Germany and cannot fault it in any way when used with non oily timbers. Much cheaper than Selleys or Titebond and contains more solids in comparison to other brands.
Cheers, Evan

Laminating Tas. Oak flooring to ply
Thanks so much, Evan.
I had thought about using Aquadhere but didn't think the bond would be any good. My flooring friend did say that the Bostik product allowed for expansion and I had wondered about that, hence my query.
I'll seek out a supplier of Kleiberit PVA from our local Central Coast suppliers.
Many thanks again... Ian

Kleiberit PVA?
Hello Evan,
I've tried sourcing Kleiberit PVA here on the Central Coast to no avail. Emailed Kleiberit in Sydney but their email addresses are all wrong so just spoke with them by phone. They've directed me to a firm in Sydney - Tekform who are suppliers of their products. Tekform's question to me is what PVA product of Kleiberit do I need. I've read the tech.info and I'm not sure as there are quite a few that are possible candidates. What do you use and recommend? Regards, Ian.
