Miter slot question
Finally getting around to adding a slot for a miter gauge on my router table. Simple matter of running a 19mm bit in a straight line down the table top.
Ideally, I'd like to use the same stuff from the table saw. However, the TS has an undercut in the slot, and each of the miter gauges have a bar or washer that hooks into that slot.
So, how would y'all suggest I cut that undercut slot? Is a keyhole bit deep enough? The slot on the TS is 4mm deep and extends about 2.5mm out from either side.
Thanks,
Tex

Tex, most of the mitre tracks I have seen, including the Incra one I have, are about 29mm wide, for a 19mm (3/4") mitre gauge to run in.
Are you sure you are not talking of T tracks, they are normally 19mm wide.

The T tracks I have are much too narrow, but pehaps yours are different.
My idea is to replicate the track in the table saw (10HB) on the router table. The TS track is 19mm wide at the top, with a bit about 25mm wide at the bottom. The theory is I can take my Incra 1000SE and use it on the router table as well.

You can purchase mitre track from Carbatec (Catalogue No ALMG32) and probably others as well. That's what I used for my router table.

Tex, maybe I didn't express myself very well. You talked about routing a 19mm rebate in your router table. I then said that wouldn't be wide enough to take an aluminium (or similar) mitre track, as they are about 29mm wide OUTSIDE. They are however 19mm (3/4") wide on the INSIDE, which can the take your Incra 1000SE Mitre gauge.
Or are you perhaps thinking of running the mitre gauge directly in the routed rebate?
I got my Incra mitre track from Professional Woodworkers at the same time as my other Incra gear.

But I believe Timbecon sell them as well.Last edited by Big Shed; 6th April 2007 at 01:45 PM. Reason: Added link

Ah, with you now Fred. I had just routed a 19mm slot in the table to run the miter in directly. I'll have a look a the bigger T tracks.
Thanks

Are you happy with the Incra 1000SE mitre gauge and is it worth the money?

Same as Groggy. In fact, i don't think I've used the crosscut sled since buying the Incra.
Absolutely dead perfect 45s for miters with no fiddling.
