    Default Omnijig vs DeWalt 625E

    Greetings All,

I have a fairly unique problem in that I bought a Porter Cable Omnijig and already had a DeWalt 625E router. It seems that the router didn't come with the base plate 30mm guide bush insert that the Omnijig supplied guide needs to screw into.

Has anyone else had the same issue? If so, how was it negotiated?

In the same vein - and I hope it doesn't come to this - does anyone know who sells Porter Cable routers in Australia? I need another router to fix into my router table so I could be killing two birds with the one stone - perhaps.

    Thanx LGC

I think you will need to get one of these kits

the bushings fit most routers and will be handy for things other than the omnijig
look on carbtec's web site http://www.carbatec.com.au/power-too...er-bushing-set

    Cheers Ian.

I'll have to source the 30mm base plate first I think. At the moment there is a ridiculous attachment that doesn't appear to serve any purpose. It certainly doesn't fit flush to the base plate of the router, so I don't know what it does.

that sounds like the 30mm guidebush that the Dewalt site says is supplied with the router.
it's supposed to protrude from the underside of the base plate so you can follow a template

so maybe you don't need to use the guide bush insert supplied with the OmniJig

The supplied collect thingy will not work with the brass PC style bushings. The best solution for you is to go and get one of the leigh adaptors for the router. You need to get the exact model number including any type etc before going shopping. The reason for this is that there are two bases on the 625E

You will need the 702 or 702R depending on the model number - for what it's worth both the 625Es I have take the 702R. When you get the adaptor you will need to either grind off the locating pin that stops the bushing from fitting flush or grind a notch into the flange of the bushing (you will see what I mean when you try and fit it). I did the latter that way I'm always guaranteed correct orientation every time and this helps cope against run out on the bushing.

    Ciao,

    M.
