    Default Router Insert

Has anyone tried the ground cast aluminium router insert plates available from Woodpeckers in the USA, on special at the moment for US$59.95. I made my own out of polycarbonate about 18 months ago but its definitely the worse for wear and needs replacing.
    Any feedback would be appreciated.
    Kind regards

Nope, but if you buy it let us know what you think

Did you take a look at the router lift/insert from Major Woodworking Machinery at the show? Xacta I think? Looks the business, if a little steep ($295 I think).

My router table is a little worse for wear as well - nowhere near flat anymore. Can't complain, it was the second thing I built I'm seriously thinking of sinking an Xacta into the extension table on my saw to save some space. I'm thinking also I should be getting the Triton router to swing the larger panel bits etc. My Bosch blue is in need of new bearings anyway - and doesn't have a big enough base opening. There's $700 though - so it might have to wait

Errr..... Darryl, I don't think the Triton will go with the Xacta or any of the Yank router adjusters - they are generally intended to clamp onto the body of one of the 'fixed base' type routers, whereas the Triton had the adjuster built-in.

You might want to look at getting the complete Triton router table plate setup as a 'spare part' from Triton - they should be used to it by now as its a drop-in fit to their current table. Very similar to the Lee Valley router plate except the plate is steel with a 90 degree turned edge & it has lock-downs where the Lee plate has a hinge & lock-up to accomodate those 'fixed base' routers.
