    Gday mjb71

A pic of your workbench might help with suggestions.
    Good luck

Use the router's sub base as a template to drill the holes. Job done! You'll need longer screws though.

I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.

    Hi Jeff,

Just did it to mine the other day. 1/4 piece of plate steel about 16" square recessed into the top and took the handles of the router so the cut section is not so big. That way you only loose about 1/8" in plunge depth.
Once to mount it through say 3/4 or 1 1/2" top you loose to much depth of cut.

Will be back in the workshop on Tuesday if you want photos let me know and i'll take some.

    Cheers

In case the thread owner is not sure, the screws on that machine are 4 mm metric thread. I have not seen countersunk screws in this size in Bunnings but a bolt shop will sell you a small quantity as they did for me.

    G'day again.

Here are the photo's of the set up I did last week.
hope they are of some assistance. You'll note I have taken off the handles, this was done so the access hole did not have to be as big therefore giving more support to the router itself and an added bonus is it's much easier to lift the router in and out of the table for bit change of if i need it to do some free hand work.

That is a great job, mate.

Taking off the handles is a good idea for the reason that you mention.

If I did that, though, I would be sure to lose them.

Wrap them in silver foil and pack 'em away with the other chrissy decorations that you'll get reminded once a year

    Cheers

Looking at the cutter you have inserted Trimming cutter? It looks as it just fits through the hole in the plate.

Hi Tom that's what I wanted it for, only use that particular cutter, if wider cutter used then bigger hole is required.

    Cheers
