    Default Router for Newcomer

I have just discovered the wonderful world of wood working. I am making a Blanket Chest at the moment.
I went to Bunnings last Saturday and spent hours on power tools demonstrations. I realized that I need a router.
The demonstration was made on a Bosch PDF400 1/4in router. I found it a little under power for large jobs, and it won't be suitable for a triton router table.

1, I found out most of u are using Makita, Hitachi and Triton. I think Triton is relative cheaper among the three brands. Do you rekon I should buy a triton TRC-001? If the answer is no, what is your suggestion?

2, Is TRC-001 really too heavy for hand held use (not free hand, use with guide)?

    Zero,

This has been discussed countless times in these forums. Just do a search and you'll find all the answers you need. After that, go and buy the Triton.

I was a bit too excited about this forum... that's why I post a new thread anyway...

The Triton Router is certainly the router to be used in the router table. The greatest advantage is the changing of the cutter with ease as the spanner can be operated from the top. It has it's limitations in the plunge mode as there is not a 40mm template guide available in the kit sold. Just a tip to all those who may wish to use a 40mm guide with the triton, the Hitachi made guide will fit into the sub-base added to the router. The 40mm guide will give you a greater choice of cutters that can be used.
