    Default Router Table material

This may be old news but I was impressed. While looking for MDO plywood I came across a 15mm thick, "A" Bond plywood with a very glossy, white surface. It looked a bit like melamine but was a lot harder, thicker and smoother. Apparently it is a gloss white polyester coating, applied 1.2mm thick on both sides of the sheet. I was about to use Formply for my tablesaw extension/ router table but prefer the white surface so I grabbed a 2440 x 1220 sheet for just over $80. Available through Australian Wood Panels Pty Ltd (Website - not great) www.awpanels.com.au. Apparently it is mostly available only in thin panels but they took a punt and bought some thicker stuff in - I'm glad they did. Now I know what I'm doing over Christmas!

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to all.

Another similar material is Plasply. Naturally very slippery. Form ply coated on on both sides; Black is softwood while dark red is the superior hardwood version.

My first ever table was made of this. Be careful transporting it. It can get away on you.
