Darn it, you Ozzies get some good deals we don't get here in NZ. Here's a $110 dusty in Rutherford on gumtree.

Hi dropstix,
Yes you can definitely find things if you keep your eyes open. I picked up a 3hp twin bag extractor with 150mm inlet for $100 and a Taiwanese made 3hp with twin pleated filters, 200mm inlet and 14" fan for $200. Both are single phase. If you keep your eyes open on fishbay or gumpool, whatever you have over there, something will come up eventually. Don't know where in NZ you are, but, like here, I assume freight is a major consideration.
Happy browsing!

And here I was thinking this forum topic was the one place I'm happy to admit bigger is better. Foiled again. On our dominant online marketplace, trademe, I've been watching the dusty listings and will just have to be patient, I guess. It seems lowest cost options are either spending about $400 on a used 2HP and making a Bill Pentze inspired cyclone separator, or spend about $650 for a 3HP double bag and park it out the back of the shed. Will keep looking around.
