    Default Ozone Dust Collector

Has anyone had exerience with a company called 'Ozone Dust Collectors'? I have been trying to decide what I need for my shed for some time now. I was planning to build a cyclone (of Pentz design) but have been talked out of it by a technician at Fantech who maintains the noise will be too great for my neighbours. I had almost decided on a 2 hp Carbatec (or similar) when I stumbled on this web site: Home
I was wondering if anyone knows about these things. I have yet to make contact with the company but it looks as though it might be just the ticket for my garage workshop. Could be expensive...

Yes, we have their fume extraction systems at work in fact I am using one of the impeller motor units mounted in my roof space via a Bill Penz cyclone.. here is a thread works a treat.

Most impressive setup. What are your cyclones made from? How powerful is the motor? (3 phase?). Is the noise an issue for the neighbours? I'm really just starting out with all this and I'm not sure which direction to take.

Galv sheet steel, I used Bills system. The small unit is a cut down 10 litre bucket I was just trying out the concept.

Can't remember 1hp I think it's single phase. The noise level is not bad in the workshop as it is mounted in the roof space and vents through the roof. As for the neighbours the external noise is only a low drone but I'm lucky as the nearest house is about 50 metres away.

There are some threads here on cyclone building and sheet metal work. I made the transitions for the outlets and ducting is 6" storm water pipe and fitting. Building a cyclone is not difficult.

Don't think your workshop will be completely dust free with a dust extraction system it won't be but it is a huge improvement. I'm still looking at air filters which is really a must to capture the fine stuff that escapes the machines and power tools.

Thanks very much. That is really interesting. I had almost decided on a 5hp /3ph cyclone which I understand will make a great deal of noise (close neighbours - that I like!) but if you find a 1hp motor adequate perhaps I am overkilling the whole thing. I have never done any work with sheet metal and find it a little daunting (after reading the Pentz instructions). I was planning to have a cyclone made up in a sheet metal shop. I stumbled on the Ozonetec site while looking for impellers and motors.
    Cheers,
    Bruce.
