    Default Keeping things dry

I run most things I cast through my dehydrator first, to ensure they are completely dry, as PR sticks a lot better and it hates moisture. My dehydrator is a large rectangular tray version and I usually run it when it is completely full. Last time was a while ago and when I went to cast something last weekend, I found due to the extensive wet weather we have had in Qld, most had absorbed the moisture again. The corn cobs were almost soggy

Anyway, someone suggested I put them in sealed pastic bags, but then I remembered I use vacuum bags for the meat in the freezer, so why not use them for my casting stuff

I ran the dehydrator again, then put the dry stuff in the bags for casting another day

Some cedar pods, sheoak pods, small gum-nuts, croc jaws, corn cobs and already cast pine cones and banksia (for stabilisation).

    Cheers
    Neil

Looks neat. Ive heard that putting things in the freezer removes moisture aswell. Haven't tried it though

Yep it does. That is how I dry my corn cobs without them going mouldy, 12 months in the freezer, then in the dehydrator prior to stabilisation.

Geez you are a patient man. 12 months of waiting for a corncob. I couldn't do it. Maybe 24 hours
